The Croods: A New AgeĪ Golden Globe nominee that was released during the 2020 holiday season, this sequel to the 2013 DreamWorks hit is already on Hulu. It’s a bit of a mixed bag but different than a lot of the other family offerings on Hulu. A great cast assembled here, including David Oyelowo, Angelina Jolie, Michael Caine, Clarke Peters, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
Barrie’s world in Peter Pan with a dash of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland to mix it up. Premiering at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, this is yet another loose adaptation of J.M. They know a thing or two about great cartoons.

The character design here is clever and the script is very smart, written by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, who went from this to make a little flick called The LEGO Movie and produce Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This adaptation of the famous kids book by Judi & Ron Barrett completely expands on the world of its source material to tell the story of an inventor (voiced wonderfully by Bill Hader) who unleashes a storm of food. It’s mostly a physical comedy thing for the kids but adults can be entertained by the excellent comic timing of Bonnie Hunt and Charles Grodin at the same time.
Bernard named Beethoven and the trouble he gets into. John Hughes created an unexpected hit franchise in the ‘90s, starting with the 1992 original story of a giant St. This may be for the slightly older kids, and some of its gender politics are dated, but Diane Keaton keeps it moving with her ace timing. Nancy Meyers co-wrote this clever family comedy about a successful woman who finds herself the unexpected mother of a 14-month-old baby girl when her long-lost cousin leaves her the child after her death. We don’t talk enough about how great Aardman, the team behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, are every single time out. Maybe you’re in the mood for that holiday spirit outside of the Peppermint Mocha window? Try watching Arthur Christmas, a sweet, clever film about how the son of Father Christmas saves the day for one kid and recaptures the entire spirit of the holiday. And if it introduces them to the live-action films and series, then it will have done some good. Still, kids love to see new stuff, and this was very recently in theaters, so will likely be a major draw on Hulu. Whatever you choose, your family movie time is bonding time - when the movies are this good, you don’t have to feel bad about screens.Not the superior live-action version with Christina Ricci, but the 2019 animated version that made a minor dent at the box office. If you go through the flicks on this list, you can marvel at the technical prowess of stop-motion movies, revel in the lush beauty of hand-drawn animation, check out some of the most amazing musical sequences of the past, or be amazed at how far computer graphics have come since the first Toy Story. and Studio Ghibli in Japan, that have also put out some of the funniest or most innovative kids’ fare. But there are also kids’ movies from around the world, from places like Aardman Animations in the U.K.
Sure, you can’t go wrong with firing up the Disney+ streaming service and watching (most of) the movies that Disney has put out. If you really want to give your kids a love of film, go for a classic that stands the test of time (and one that's earned a spot on our list of the all-time best kids’ movies).

But what to watch? There are endless options for children’s entertainment these days - from always-on TV channels to streaming kids' TV shows to the new sequels, plus plenty of animated movies, live-action remakes, and reboots that get cranked out every year - the quality on them, obviously, varies. Pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and get ready for a family movie night.
